About the Islay Story
Here's a bit about me, and also a bit about a dog called Islay.

From Yorkshire to Houston, I’m here to tell your story.
My journey behind the lens began in a darkroom. It was there I learned the traditions of black-and-white film, the value of patience, and the truth that the most powerful photos are often the simplest captured moments. That lesson started three decades ago and has followed me across continents—from the UK to South America, Australia, the Middle East, and beyond.
So, what is "Islay"? (EYE-luh). The studio namesake is a loving homage to two beauties in my life: my favorite region of Scotch, and one of my rescue dogs who is rarely far from my side.
Ultimately, The Islay Studio is about you. After years of documenting the scale of global landscapes and the chaos of international city life, I’ve found that the most compelling subject is the one right in front of me. Whether it’s a thousand-year-old ruin or a family portrait here in Texas, I am looking for the moment where history and heart align.
My approach is clean and classic. I ensure your portraits don't just capture how you look today, but become heirlooms that carry your legacy forward.
